The Tender Smile
A Jar of Jam - The Tender Smile
T he boys in Cooperation knew Seyyed1 Hosein well. He was from Riyab, Gonabad. He was slim with a tender smile on his lips with unlimited energy. He did everything you assigned him to in .the best way possible I recall a night that a few martyrs were transferred to the ascension, so Seyyed would identify and send them. His friend told us the story: It was middle of the night. I saw him coming from the morgue building. I thought he might have had to do something. I fell asleep after a while. I woke up again and I saw him coming back from the ascension. I called him. “What’s the matter tonight?”, I asked. He was quiet. I insisted on finding out why he went to the ascension for a few times that night. He explained, “Last night, they brought a martyr. I couldn’t take his specifications from the ambulance driver. Moreover, his card and dog tag were not in his pocket. I put him under the category of “Anonymous” in the morgue, so he will be identified later. It was early in the night; I went to sleep. He popped into my dream. He told me, “Why are you sleeping? Wake up, identify me, and send me”. I went to the morgue and looked carefully, but I didn’t find anything. I came back and went to sleep. He popped into my dream again. “My family is eagerly expecting me”, he said. I told him I haven’t found anything. “My dog tag has fell off my neck and is in my back, between my equipment belt and my trousers”, he said. I went back to the morgue and looked again. The dog tag was there as he had said”. Our Seyyed was like this, straightforward and cool. Finally, Seyyed Hossein Doostdar was martyred during the operation of Karbala 5 in Shalamche area due to being hit by shrapnel in his face. He took his tender .smile to the other world with him
